Sul Ross State University will host the Texas Goat Tying Clinic on Sept. 5-6 at the S.A.L.E. Arena in Alpine, offering rodeo athletes an opportunity to refine their skills and improve performance in one of rodeo’s fastest-paced events.
The clinic will be led by performance enhancement specialist Carly Green and is designed to help competitors build on existing techniques while improving efficiency, consistency and confidence under pressure.
According to promotional materials, instruction will focus on speed techniques for faster dismounts, agility training to improve positioning on challenging goats, ground work, horse work and a variety of drills aimed at identifying time-saving improvements within a competitor’s run.
Organizers said the clinic is intended to enhance skills riders already possess rather than completely change their approach to the event.
“Learn practical strategies to improve efficiency, consistency, confidence and performance under pressure so you can shave time off your run, trust your training and compete at your best when it matters most,” the event announcement states.
Tuition for the clinic is $350, with a $200 deposit required to reserve a spot.
