A hunter education course will be offered Aug. 1 at the Everett E. Turner Range Animal Science Center on the campus of Sul Ross State University.
The one-day course will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Room 130 and is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of safe and ethical hunting.
According to the course announcement, instruction will cover firearm safety, wildlife conservation, hunting laws and ethics, first aid and other topics related to responsible hunting practices.
The course is being offered in partnership with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Registration is available online through the department’s hunter education portal.

Texas requires hunter education certification for many hunters born on or after Sept. 2, 1971, before they may legally hunt in the state.
