Alpine ISD Announces $570,000 Employee Compensation Investment for 2026-27 School Year

Alpine Independent School District has announced a compensation package totaling approximately $570,000 for the 2026-27 school year, including salary increases, retention payments, health insurance contributions and classroom supply funding.

The district unveiled the plan under the theme “Investing in Our People. Investing in Our Future,” highlighting several initiatives aimed at recruiting and retaining educators and staff.

According to the district, the package includes:

  • $300,000 for a December retention payment, providing $1,500 per employee.
  • $30,000 to increase the district’s health insurance contribution by $25 per month per employee.
  • $210,000 dedicated to bringing salaries in line with regional averages across West Texas.
  • $30,000 for classroom wish-list supplies, providing $400 per teacher.

Alpine ISD said the compensation plan is designed to remain competitive with neighboring districts while supporting employees both inside and outside the classroom.

Under the updated pay scale, certified teacher salaries will range from $45,500 to $72,100, depending on experience and qualifications.

District officials said the investments reflect a commitment to supporting educators and staff members who serve students throughout the district.

“Thank you to our incredible staff for all you do for our students,” the district said in announcing the compensation plan.

The compensation package comes as school districts across Texas continue to face challenges in recruiting and retaining teachers amid rising costs and ongoing workforce shortages. Alpine ISD officials said the investments are intended to strengthen employee retention while ensuring students continue to receive quality educational services.
