Alpine will mark both Independence Day and the nation’s 250th anniversary with a full day of festivities July 4, featuring a parade, courthouse lawn celebration, community photo, baseball, fireworks and live entertainment as part of the city’s “America 250” observance.
Organizers are branding the event as “Alpine’s America 250 Celebration,” honoring 250 years of American independence from 1776 to 2026.
The celebration begins with a parade at 10 a.m., followed by activities on the Brewster County Courthouse lawn beginning at 10:30 a.m. and continuing through the afternoon. Scheduled events include food vendors, a farmers market, cooking contests, games, music, a dunking booth and a tug-of-war competition.
A community town picture recreating Alpine’s historic courthouse photographs is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., giving residents an opportunity to participate in a commemorative image honoring the city’s history.
Additional activities include a preview performance by Theatre of the Big Bend, an American Legion barbecue lunch and an evening game featuring the Alpine Cowboys baseball team at 6:30 p.m.
The day will conclude with an American Legion dance at 8 p.m. and a fireworks display at Kokernot Park beginning at 9:30 p.m.
The event is organized with support from local organizations and community partners, including Alpine Community Projects, the City of Alpine, Brewster County and civic groups.
