The Marfa Public Library will celebrate the last day of school with an ice cream cake gathering Friday, May 22, inviting local students and families to stop by for a sweet start to summer.
The celebration is scheduled for about noon Friday at the library, located at 115 E. Oak St. in Marfa. Library staff said attendees can enjoy a slice of ice cream cake while learning about summer activities and programs available through the library.
The event is sponsored by Dairy Queen, which library staff thanked for helping support the celebration.
The Marfa Public Library also reminded patrons that the facility will be closed Saturday, May 23, and Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day. Officials encouraged residents to pick up books, movies, games and other materials before the long weekend.
The library offers a variety of resources and programming for the community, including books, technology access and educational activities throughout the year.
