Presidio ISD student Esteban Baeza earned first place in the Grades 6–8 division of the 2026 Texas Rural Education Association Student Art Contest, the district announced this week.
The statewide contest received 475 student entries from rural school districts across Texas and centered on the theme “Where I Come From…Rural Texas.”
According to Presidio ISD, Baeza’s artwork reflected the spirit and pride of the Presidio community and was recognized for its creativity and artistic talent.
Winning artwork will be featured during the Texas Rural Education Association Annual Conference, scheduled for June 14–17 at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in Round Rock.
The Texas Rural Education Association awarded prizes to top student artists in three grade divisions, with first-place winners receiving $500.
Presidio ISD congratulated Baeza on the achievement and said the recognition highlights the talent and hard work of students in the district.
