Sheriff’s Office hosts school safety meeting in Fort Davis

The Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office convened a school safety meeting at Fort Davis High School, bringing together law enforcement agencies, educators and staff to coordinate efforts aimed at protecting students.

Sheriff Victor Lopez led the meeting, which included participation from the Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas Game Wardens. Officials discussed collaboration across campuses and strategies to strengthen safety measures in local schools.

Staff from Fort Davis High School, Fort Davis Middle School and Dirks Elementary School attended the meeting, along with other community partners involved in school safety planning.

In a statement, the sheriff’s office thanked participating agencies for contributing time, knowledge and support, emphasizing the importance of partnership in maintaining safe learning environments.

The office also recognized teachers and school staff, describing them as a critical first line of defense for students and highlighting their role in maintaining vigilance and care on campus.

Officials said the meeting reflects an ongoing effort to build and maintain a safer future for students in Jeff Davis County.
