A long-planned mural project at a key gateway into Fort Davis has been completed, bringing a visual landmark to the intersection near U.S. highways 17 and 118 by the Jeff Davis County Courthouse.
The mural features a “Greetings from Fort Davis, Texas” design, highlighting local scenery, landmarks and cultural elements intended to reflect the community’s identity. The project grew out of years of discussion and coordination between the Fort Davis Chamber of Commerce and the Jeff Davis County Commissioners Court, along with community support and fundraising efforts.
Organizers say the finished mural marks the culmination of a shared vision to create a welcoming feature for visitors entering the town and to reinforce Fort Davis’ character as a destination in West Texas.
