Fort Davis athletes earn top finishes at district track meet, advance to area

Athletes from Fort Davis Independent School District posted multiple top finishes at the district track meet, with several competitors qualifying for the area round next week.

In junior high girls competition, Maggie Egg placed first in the long jump, third in the high jump and fifth in the 100-meter dash. Taryn Kenzie finished third in the triple jump and fourth in the 100, while Cashlyn Trussell took fourth in the discus. The 4×100-meter relay team of Kenzie, Egg, Ximena Cisneros and Bryleigh Hamilton placed second, and the 4×200 relay team of Kenzie, Egg, Cisneros and Serenity Morales finished third.

For the junior high boys, Jaxon Weaver earned second in the high jump, fourth in the 100-meter dash and sixth in the 200. The 4×100 relay team of Weaver, Draven Ybarra, Carlos Chacon and Tevita Tofiga placed third.

At the high school level, the top four finishers in each event advanced to the area meet.

In girls competition, Jocelyn Hamilton placed second in the high jump. Giselle Ramos took third in the 100-meter hurdles and fifth in the triple jump, while Alexi Hernandez finished third in the discus. The 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams — consisting of Hamilton, Giselle Ramos, Aylin Ramos and Hernandez — both placed third.

In boys events, Quinn Martin earned second in the 100-meter dash and second in the 300-meter hurdles. Justin Trussell placed fourth in the long jump and fifth in the discus. The 4×100 relay team of Alan Trevizo, Asher Logan, Trussell and Martin finished second.

Fort Davis athletes advancing will compete at the area meet next week.
