Dance tradition returns to Balmorhea State Park with “Boots & Baile” community event

Residents and visitors are invited to dust off their boots and head to Balmorhea State Park on Saturday evening for “Boots & Baile,” a public dance celebrating the long-standing tradition of community gatherings at the park.

The event is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at the park, located at 9207 State Highway 17 in Balmorhea. Organizers say the dance will revive the historic practice of public dances once held in the area, bringing neighbors together for an evening of music and community.

Music will feature a mix of country swing and Tejano, provided by DJs Panchito and Charlie from Alpine Radio. Attendees are encouraged to wear boots and come ready to dance.

Hosted by Texas Parks and Wildlife staff at Balmorhea State Park, the event is open to the public, including those who do not use Facebook.

Event organizers say the goal is to bring the community together in a relaxed setting that reflects the cultural traditions of West Texas, where music and dance have long played a role in local gatherings.

Balmorhea State Park, known for its historic spring-fed swimming pool and desert landscape, regularly hosts educational and community events designed to connect visitors with the region’s culture and natural environment.
