Marathon Public Library unveils new makerspace for hands-on STEM learning

The Marathon Public Library has introduced a new makerspace designed to give local children a dedicated area for hands-on learning and creative experimentation.

The newly completed space features a large butcher block work surface, storage cabinets and seating that allows students to spread out while working on projects. Library officials say the makerspace was created to encourage young visitors to build, experiment and explore science, technology, engineering and math concepts.

Photos shared by the library show the bright workspace set within the library, with a central worktable and stools where children can collaborate on projects and activities.

The addition reflects a growing trend among libraries to provide interactive learning environments that go beyond traditional books and reading areas. The makerspace is intended to support curiosity, creativity and problem-solving skills among young library patrons in the Marathon community.
