The Alpine Middle School tennis team competed Saturday in Fort Stockton’s Comanche Classic Invitational, with dozens of players participating in singles and doubles matches across 16 courts.
A total of 29 Alpine players took part in the tournament, gaining match experience in what coaches described as a day of strong effort and improvement despite hot conditions.
Roman Holguin captured the 8th Grade Boys Singles Championship, highlighting the team’s performance at the event, according to Assistant Coach Nathan Struthers.
“It was a great day of competition and Fightin’ Buck camaraderie,” Struthers said in a statement.
The tournament brought together middle school athletes from across the region for a full day of play. Holguin was pictured alongside Struthers following the championship match.
