A free community medical clinic will be offered Monday, March 9, at the Fort Davis EMS and Fire Station, providing wellness checks, preventive screenings and basic health services for residents of all ages.
The clinic, organized by the University of North Texas Health Science Center’s Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine Rural Medical Education program, is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 200 W. Court St.
Services will include wellness exams for adults, children and older adults, as well as on-site school physicals for University Interscholastic League participation. Healthcare offerings are expected to include diabetes management, blood pressure monitoring, medication reviews, joint and muscle therapy, balance and mobility assessments, and ultrasound imaging.
Preventive care services will focus on lifestyle and risk-factor screenings, diet and exercise guidance, safety assessments and early intervention support. Educational components will include “Stop the Bleed” training, one-person CPR instruction, mind-body health habits and information about community resources.
Care will be provided by advanced medical students and faculty from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, supported through funding from WellPoint.
The clinic is open to the public at no cost.
