Volunteers are being recruited to help clean and prepare the historic pool at Balmorhea State Park during a five-day work effort scheduled for late April.
According to information provided by park staff, the volunteer event will take place April 27 through May 1, with participants meeting each day at 8 a.m. in the pool area. The duration is flexible, with opportunities to earn up to eight volunteer hours per day.
Planned tasks include micro trash pickup, power washing bathrooms and picnic tables, painting signs and trash cans, and staining bridges and pergolas, along with other maintenance projects.
Volunteers will receive water and snacks each day, and organizers plan a cookout on the second day. Once work is completed and the pool is clean, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy the facility before it reopens to the broader public, including a free relaxation day by the pool.
Participants are asked to bring work clothes that can get dirty, sun protection, lunch and a water bottle.
For more information, organizers list a contact at the park and encourage volunteers to sign up through the provided registration link or QR code. The park can also be reached at 432-375-2370.
