Big Bend Telephone Co. is preparing to begin construction in the Limpia Creek area as part of a broader fiber expansion funded through the Broadband Opportunity Outreach and Technology, or BOOT, Grant Program, according to information released by the company.
The project is intended to expand fiber internet service to rural communities in West Texas, with initial work focusing on areas identified as having the greatest need for reliable connectivity.
Company officials noted that some portions of the planned expansion remain contingent on final agreements related to American Electric Power utility pole access.
The Limpia Creek construction is part of a larger effort expected to extend fiber access to more than 500 homes across Fort Davis, Iraan, Marathon and Alpine.
Big Bend Telephone said the expansion is aimed at improving long-term broadband infrastructure and addressing connectivity gaps in rural areas. Additional updates are available at bigbend.com.
