Ojinaga Announces Return of “Reencuentro” Festival Set for April 3–5, 2026

The Municipal Government of Ojinaga has announced the return of its annual “Gran Reencuentro,” a multi-day celebration focused on family reunions, community pride, and cultural heritage, scheduled for April 3–5, 2026.

According to municipal officials, the event is designed to bring together families with roots in Ojinaga who live both locally and abroad, creating a shared space for reconnection and celebration. The festival is being organized in collaboration with a group identified as “Los Amigos del Reencuentro.”

Promotional materials describe the gathering as a major moment of convivencia — social connection and community bonding — highlighting Ojinaga’s identity and history under the current municipal administration’s theme of “Unidad y Trabajo con Visión” (Unity and Work with Vision).

While detailed programming has not yet been released, past editions of the Reencuentro have included concerts, cultural presentations, parades, and public celebrations drawing visitors from across the border region, including residents of Presidio and other West Texas communities with longstanding family ties to Ojinaga.

The 2026 event will also include a tribute component honoring Víctor Sotelo Mata, according to promotional graphics shared by organizers.

Officials say additional announcements about performers, schedules, and activities are expected in the coming weeks.

The Reencuentro is widely considered one of Ojinaga’s signature annual events and serves as an important cross-border cultural gathering for the broader Big Bend region.
