One of the region’s largest rodeo events is set to return next month, with organizers announcing The Big Rodeo will take place Sunday, March 15, at 4 p.m. at Arena de Rodeo El Tecolote in Ojinaga.
Promoted as a major cross-border event drawing competitors and spectators from across northern Mexico and the Trans-Pecos region of Texas, the rodeo will feature bull riding and other traditional rodeo competitions with participants from multiple organizations.
According to promotional materials shared by organizers, the event is supported by JBRR Rodeos Family, AERCH, the Federación Mexicana de Rodeo Tour, and PRORODEO, reflecting a collaboration of rodeo circuits and associations.
Organizers describe the event as a high-energy family experience featuring top riders, competitive bulls, and nonstop action inside the Tecolote arena, a well-known venue for rodeo events in the border region.
Sponsorship for the event includes regional businesses such as First Presidio Bank / Big Bend Banks and Waru Hotel, among others.
Ticket sales information is expected to be announced soon, with organizers encouraging attendees to watch for updates.
The return of large rodeo events in Ojinaga continues a long-standing cultural tradition that draws visitors from both sides of the Rio Grande, reinforcing the strong ties between communities in Chihuahua and West Texas.
