Big Bend Regional Hospital District Recognized for Supporting Alpine High School CNA Program

Alpine Independent School District is recognizing the Big Bend Regional Hospital District for its long-term support of the Alpine High School Certified Nursing Assistant program, a career and technical education pathway that prepares students for entry-level work in healthcare.

In a recent announcement, Alpine ISD said it has received generous backing from the hospital district over the past several years, support that school officials say has helped expand opportunities for students while strengthening the healthcare workforce pipeline across the Big Bend region.

The Certified Nursing Assistant program introduces high school students to foundational healthcare skills and workplace expectations, giving them early exposure to a field that remains critical across rural Texas. District leaders said sustained investment in the program has helped open doors for students who want to explore medical careers, enter the workforce after graduation, or continue on to additional training and education.

As part of the recognition, Alpine ISD said it is officially renaming the program the Big Bend Regional Hospital District CNA Program, calling it a token of appreciation for the hospital district’s continued partnership and commitment to local students.

School officials emphasized that the program’s impact extends beyond individual students, noting that developing future healthcare workers locally can help rural communities address ongoing staffing challenges and provide long-term benefits for patient care throughout the region.

Alpine ISD also thanked the hospital district for believing in the community’s students and said the support has made a meaningful difference in building stronger connections between education and healthcare in West Texas.
