In the rugged shadow of the Chisos Mountains, where crimson sunsets meet the clearest night skies in the Lower 48, a group of women will gather this March not just to hike, but to heal.
The Big Bend Women’s Hiking Retreat, hosted by Journey Land and Soul, returns March 28–31 for four days of transformative exploration through one of Texas’ most majestic regions. Based out of the scenic La Posada Milagro in Terlingua, the retreat offers participants a rare blend of high desert adventure, communal support, and restorative self-care.
More Than a Hike
Far from the typical tourist trek, this retreat invites women to connect deeply with the land—and with each other. Mornings begin with intention: guided meditation, mindful movement, and sound healing set the tone before small groups head into Big Bend National Park for invigorating hikes across mountain trails and desert valleys. The days are challenging yet grounding, designed to match physical movement with emotional clarity.
Each evening, participants return to home-cooked meals, heartfelt reflection circles, and unforgettable stargazing under Terlingua’s famously dark skies.
“This land has a way of stripping away the noise,” says retreat facilitator and Journey Land and Soul founder [Facilitator Name, if known]. “When women come out here together, there’s space for silence and story, stillness and movement. That balance is where transformation begins.”
Healing Through Nature and Community
Open to women of all backgrounds, the retreat emphasizes personal growth within a supportive, small-group environment. The itinerary balances structure with spontaneity—leaving space for journaling, rest, and unplanned desert magic.
Though most guests come for the nature, many leave having formed unexpected bonds.
“Whether they come solo or with a friend, every woman ends up walking away with something lasting,” says the organizer. “Sometimes that’s clarity. Sometimes it’s new courage. Sometimes it’s just a deep breath they hadn’t taken in years.”
Limited Space, Unlimited Sky
With intimate group sizes and a waitlist from prior years, early registration is encouraged. The event includes lodging, guided hikes, meals, and wellness programming.
