Presidio High School Physics and Rocketry Students Take Hands-On Learning Trip to El Paso

Presidio High School physics and rocketry students recently traveled to El Paso for a hands-on educational field trip designed to bring classroom concepts to life through real-world applications.

According to Presidio Independent School District, students visited iFLY Indoor Skydiving, where they explored key physics principles including air resistance, lift, gravity, and terminal velocity. Inside the vertical wind tunnel, students were able to experience firsthand how airflow and body positioning affect motion and stability—concepts typically studied through equations and diagrams in the classroom.

The trip also included a visit to Topgolf, where students examined the physics behind sports performance. While playing, students analyzed forces, motion, angles, momentum, and energy transfer, observing how each factor influences distance, accuracy, and trajectory.

District officials said the experience gave students a valuable opportunity to connect theoretical physics concepts to practical, observable outcomes.

“This field trip gave students the opportunity to see real-world physics concepts in action beyond the classroom,” Presidio ISD stated.
