Terrell County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Report of Shots Fired From Boat on Rio Grande

The Terrell County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report that shots were fired from a boat on the Rio Grande, according to a statement posted by Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland.

Cleveland said the sheriff’s office received a call from a landowner who reported seeing a jet boat on the river and hearing multiple gunshots fired from the boat toward the property.

The sheriff’s office is working with Texas Parks and Wildlife to investigate the incident at the reported location, Cleveland said.

“I want our landowners to know that complaints of this nature are taken seriously and will be investigated,” Cleveland wrote in the post.

He added that the sheriff’s office recognizes that many landowners in Terrell County depend on wildlife and game for their livelihood and said the agency is committed to protecting those interests.

No information was released regarding suspects, arrests, injuries, or damage, and authorities did not specify when the reported incident occurred.

The investigation remains ongoing.
