The Sul Ross State University Rodeo Team is recruiting graduate students who want to continue competing while earning a master’s degree and gaining hands-on coaching experience.
According to the program, graduate assistants with the rodeo team are able to finish their collegiate rodeo careers while pursuing advanced academic work and building experience in athlete development and coaching. The opportunity is aimed at competitors who want to stay active in the sport while preparing for leadership roles beyond competition.
Sul Ross officials say the program benefits from both indoor and outdoor practice facilities, allowing year-round training in Alpine’s favorable West Texas climate. The university also points to strong alumni involvement and community support as key advantages for student-athletes in the program.
The rodeo team competes as part of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association and has a long history in collegiate rodeo, drawing athletes from across Texas and the Southwest.
