Brewster County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted multiple blocks of training Monday morning, taking advantage of the holiday school closure to use local school facilities.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies refreshed skills in first aid and tactical response, including force-on-force scenarios using Simunition training weapons. The training was held at facilities provided by Alpine Independent School District.
Deputies were joined during the exercises by U.S. Border Patrol personnel, allowing for joint training and coordination between agencies.
The sheriff’s office publicly thanked Alpine ISD for allowing the use of its facilities during the training period.
Law enforcement agencies often schedule training during school holidays to minimize disruption while maximizing access to classroom and building spaces that simulate real-world environments.
