Big Bend National Park Hosts ‘Creepy Critters’ Ranger Talk Tonight

Visitors and locals have an opportunity to learn more about some of Big Bend National Park’s most misunderstood wildlife during a ranger-led program happening tonight, Tuesday, Dec. 30.

The National Park Service will host “Creepy Critters of Big Bend” at 7:30 p.m. at the Chisos Basin Amphitheater. The 45-minute Ranger Talk will focus on animals that often give people the creeps—such as snakes, scorpions, and other desert species—while explaining their role in the park’s ecosystem.

Park officials say the program is designed to educate visitors about wildlife safety, reduce fear through understanding, and highlight how these species are adapted to survive in the Chihuahuan Desert.

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to dress warmly for evening mountain temperatures and arrive early for seating.
