Davis Mountains State Park to host First Day Hike on New Year’s Day 2026

Davis Mountains State Park will host a First Day Hike on New Year’s Day 2026 as part of the Texas State Parks First Day Hikes program.

The guided hike is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 1, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Participants are asked to meet at the CCC Rock Lookout, located at the far end of Skyline Drive. Park officials advise allowing about 10 minutes to drive from park headquarters to the meeting location.

The event is part of a statewide initiative led by Texas Parks and Wildlife to encourage people to start the new year outdoors on park trails.

Davis Mountains State Park is located near Fort Davis and is known for its mountain trails, scenic overlooks and historic Civilian Conservation Corps structures.
