Book Signing Event to Explore El Paso’s Highway History

The West Texas Heritage Center will host author and scholar Dr. Miguel Juárez for a book signing and discussion of his new work, Frontera Freeways, on Dec. 11 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.

The book examines the rise and destruction of one of El Paso’s historic barrios, using the Lincoln Park neighborhood as a case study to trace how highway construction reshaped communities across the region. Juárez analyzes the social, cultural, and political forces behind the displacement driven by large-scale infrastructure projects.

A native of El Paso, Juárez is a multidisciplinary scholar, artist, and editor at El Paso News. His academic background includes advanced degrees in communications, library science, border history, and museum studies.

The community is invited to attend the talk, meet the author, and learn more about the history that shaped modern El Paso. Additional information is available at preservationtexas.org/elpaso.
