Several Jeff Davis County Officials File for 2026 GOP Primary

The filing period for the 2026 Republican Primary is underway, and a number of Jeff Davis County officeholders have already entered the race.

County Judge Curtis Evans, County Treasurer Dawn Kitts, and Justice of the Peace Mary Ann Luedecke have each filed to seek new terms.

Local resident Brittany Escobedo has also filed, challenging Kitts for the treasurer’s office.

Republican Chair Matt Blackman (432-249-0283) and Party Secretary Melanie Blackman (512-423-6745) are coordinating application submissions, filing fees, and candidate paperwork.
Statewide filing information is available through the Texas Secretary of State.
