Drug Take Back Day Happening Now in Presidio

The Presidio Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) are teaming up today for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, running until 2 p.m. at the Big Bend Regional Hospital District Office.

Residents can safely dispose of unused or expired prescription medications, including tablets, capsules, and patches. The program is free and anonymous, helping prevent drug misuse and keeping homes safe.

The DEA and its partners remind participants that liquids, needles, and illicit drugs will not be accepted. Liquid medications such as cough syrup should remain sealed in their original containers to prevent leakage.

The effort is part of a national initiative to promote safe medication disposal and raise awareness about prescription drug abuse prevention.
