Students at Dirks-Anderson Elementary School spent the day learning about fire prevention and emergency preparedness with help from the Fort Davis Volunteer Fire Department (FDVFD) and Mountain Medics.
The hands-on lesson gave students an up-close look at fire trucks, rescue equipment, and the role of first responders in keeping the community safe. Teachers said the visit helped reinforce classroom lessons on safety and emergency awareness.
“Thank you FDVFD and Mountain Medics for teaching us to be safe,” the district wrote in a social media post sharing photos of students gathered around a fire truck with firefighters and medics.
The visit was part of Fire Prevention Week, an annual campaign promoting fire safety education for children and families across the country.
