The Big Bend Sentinel has released its first edition under new ownership and leadership, unveiling a new logo, layout and design style that mark a fresh direction for the longtime regional newspaper.
The Oct. 9 edition introduces Roger Black as publisher and Andrew Siegfried as designer. The publication now operates as a nonprofit, and the updated edition features a contemporary aesthetic with a redesigned masthead and layout.
Timed with Chinati Weekend, the Sentinel’s latest issue spans 24 pages — more than double the length of a typical edition — and includes a new art section. The paper remains printed on standard newsprint but is noticeably thicker this week due to the expanded content.
The Sentinel has also assumed publication of the Presidio International, which has kept its previous logo and design.
The changes signal a new era for the Sentinel, blending a modernized presentation with its established role as a leading community newspaper in the Big Bend region.
