Community Day 2025 Set for Ruidosa Church

Friends of the Ruidosa Church invite the public to gather on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 1 to 6 p.m. for Community Day 2025, a celebration that honors the history of the adobe church while envisioning its future. Food and drinks will be provided for all attendees.

This year’s program features Gesture in the Wind, a site-specific installation by French artist Romain Froquet, presented with the support of the Alliance Française de Houston. The work continues the tradition of pairing art and heritage at the Ruidosa Church, which has become a cultural landmark in Presidio County.

Additional Programming in Marfa

In conjunction with the Ruidosa event, two supporting programs will be held in nearby Marfa:

  • Saturday, October 25 – Screening of Connections, Froquet’s documentary chronicling his earlier projects in far West Texas, at the Crowley Theatre.
  • Wednesday, November 5 – A one-day exhibition curated by Yvonamor Palix at Do Right Hall, expanding on the themes explored in the Ruidosa installation.

A Celebration of Past and Future

Organizers say Community Day embodies “the spirit of yesterday with the promise of tomorrow,” reaffirming the church’s role as both a historic site and a living space for cultural exchange.
