Seniors from Balmorhea ISD, joined by students from neighboring schools, experienced a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as they participated in Blue Origin’s New Shepard Mission NS-35 at Launch Site One in West Texas.
The mission, Blue Origin’s 35th New Shepard flight and 15th payload mission, successfully carried more than 40 payloads from students, NASA, research institutions, and commercial companies. This brings the total number of science payloads flown on New Shepard to over 200.
For Balmorhea students, the day was more than just a science lesson—it was an unforgettable memory. “It was truly amazing! Thank you Blue Origin,” Balmorhea ISD shared in a statement.
Students toured the launch site, posed in front of the reusable rocket, and saw science projects from across the country launched into space.
This partnership highlights the growing connection between West Texas and the space industry, giving local students firsthand exposure to cutting-edge research and exploration.
