Sul Ross State University is honoring the legacy of legendary rodeo producer Mack Altizer with the creation of the Mack Altizer/Bad Company Rodeo Endowed Scholarship.
Altizer, who was recently inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame Class of 2025, was more than a producer—he was a visionary who transformed the sport of rodeo through innovation, leadership, and creativity. His influence extended far beyond the arena, inspiring generations of rodeo athletes and fans alike.
The new scholarship, created in partnership with Bad Company Rodeo, will provide financial support to the next generation of rodeo athletes and students. Organizers say the scholarship will ensure Mack’s “spirit of innovation and determination lives on in every young competitor who chases their dreams.”
The Sul Ross Rodeo Team and Bad Company Rodeo are encouraging donations of any size to grow the endowment. Contributions will directly support student success while keeping Mack Altizer’s legacy alive for years to come.
