The Presidio High School (PHS) cross country teams delivered strong performances at the Tall City Invitational, showcasing determination and depth across both boys’ and girls’ divisions.
In the girls’ race, senior Liyah Reyna led the way with an outstanding first-place overall finish, clocking in at 12:15.31. Reyna’s pace set the tone for the team, which secured a 12th-place overall finish with a combined score of 310 and an average team time of 16:11.98. Teammates Khloe Olivas, Kesara Olivas, Esmee Ruiz, and Noemi Alday rounded out the scoring lineup, contributing to the team’s competitive showing against a crowded field.
On the boys’ side, PHS raced to an impressive third-place team finish with a score of 87 and an average team time of 18:19.00. Aidan Samaniego, a junior, spearheaded the effort, placing 6th overall with a time of 17:21.79. He was closely followed by Kalel Olivas (15th), Santiago Ramirez (18th), and Jesus Pantoja (22nd). Jose Bustamante secured the fifth scoring position for Presidio, sealing their top-three team finish.
Coach and supporters praised both squads for their grit and teamwork. With Reyna’s individual championship and the boys’ podium team finish, the Blue Devils are proving themselves as serious contenders this season.
The PHS cross country teams now set their sights on upcoming meets, aiming to build on the momentum from the Tall City Invitational.
