Families, students, and nature enthusiasts are invited to explore the world of plants and pollinators at a special event hosted by Borderlands Research Institute and the National Park Service on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fort Davis National Historic Site.
The event, Plants & Pollinators Day, will feature hands-on activities, presentations, and guided learning opportunities designed to connect the community with local ecosystems. Admission is included with the standard park entrance fee of $10–$20.
Schedule highlights include:
9 a.m. – 12 p.m.: Come-and-go Bug Roundup activities for families (children must be accompanied by parents/guardians). 1 p.m.: Presentation on grassland pollinator research taking place at the Historic Site. 2 p.m.: An iNaturalist BioBlitz, where participants will observe and record pollinators and nectar plants. 3 p.m.: A workshop on creating bee and butterfly habitats in home gardens.
Organizers say the event is a chance for people of all ages to “connect with science and the local landscape” while learning how pollinators sustain ecosystems and agriculture.
