Tropical Storm Lorena is forecast to bring heavy rain and a heightened risk of flash flooding to the Big Bend Region from September 5–7, according to Terlingua Fire & EMS.
Officials warn residents and visitors to remain alert to rising creek levels, dangerous canyon flooding, and impassable dirt roads. “Turn Around, Don’t Drown,” the department reminded, urging people to monitor weather alerts and conditions closely.
Deputy Fire Chief J. Thomason encouraged the community to stay safe—and even “do a little rain dance”—while FF/AEMT C. Estrin and FF/EMT C. Baker were pictured monitoring local water levels.
