A Terrell County Sheriff’s Office deputy, working with Sanderson Border Patrol agents, conducted a vehicle stop early Monday near Dryden.
During the stop, one occupant attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by Border Patrol agents, according to the sheriff’s office. Authorities determined the driver, an American citizen, was in the area to pick up two passengers, who were identified as citizens of Mexico without legal status.
The driver faces human smuggling charges. The two passengers were taken into Border Patrol custody.
