The Presidio community is mourning the tragic death of Alan Valenzuela, a 20-year-old resident who was fatally struck by random gunfire over the weekend while visiting Ojinaga, Mexico, just across the border.
Alan, remembered by friends and family as a kind and loving young man, was spending time with friends in a town frequently visited by Presidio residents and tourists when the senseless act occurred. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, leaving many questions unanswered.
The Presidio County Sheriff’s Office has stated it will pursue all available information related to the violent incident through U.S. state and federal resources.
“We extend our deepest condolences and prayers to Alan Valenzuela’s family and friends during this difficult time,” said Chief Deputy Joel Núñez, Jr. “He will be deeply missed by our community.”
Authorities are asking for the public’s patience and respect for the grieving family as the investigation continues in coordination with appropriate agencies.
