Community Mourns Loss of Beloved Alpine Father, Support Sought for His Children

The Alpine community is mourning the loss of Chris Leland, a devoted single father who passed away after a courageous battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. He is remembered as a kind, generous man who dedicated his life to raising his children and supporting those around him.

Chris leaves behind his son Lee, a senior at Alpine High School, and his daughter Corina, entering her final year at New Mexico Military Institute. He raised them alone from infancy and toddlerhood, serving as both a parent and a role model not only to his own children but to many others in the community.

“Chris was a father figure and role model to many of our children,” said Jackie Riggs, who is organizing a fundraiser on behalf of Corina Leland. “He cared deeply about all of our kids, and now his family needs our help.”

As Corina and Lee face major milestones without their father—along with financial hardship—community members are invited to support the family through donations.

The fundraiser is live at:

Donations will go toward helping the children navigate this difficult time and continue the paths their father worked so hard to support.
