South County Medics Complete Advanced Cardiac Life Support Recertification

Medics from South County agencies, including Terlingua Fire & Emergency Medical Services (TFEMS), Big Bend National Park, and Big Bend Ranch State Park–Texas Parks and Wildlife, renewed their Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification on Saturday, June 28.

According to Deputy Fire Chief J. Thomason, the medics undergo this high-stakes recertification process every two years to ensure they remain prepared to manage life-threatening cardiac emergencies in the field.

“These same medics will renew their Pediatric Life Support certification tomorrow, June 29,” Thomason noted in a public information statement.

The regular training cycle helps ensure advanced readiness across rural and remote areas of the Big Bend, where medics often serve as the first and only responders in critical medical situations.
