U.S. and Mexican Forces Conduct Joint Border Patrols Near Presidio

U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Big Bend Sector recently conducted mirrored patrols with the Mexican military along both sides of the international boundary near Presidio, highlighting a continuing cross-border security partnership.

According to a post from the U.S. Border Patrol Big Bend Sector, the coordinated effort included support from the U.S. Department of Defense and was aimed at demonstrating a shared commitment to border safety and operational cooperation.

Referred to as “mirrored patrols,” the operation involves U.S. and Mexican personnel patrolling parallel stretches of the border simultaneously. These types of joint efforts are designed to improve communication between the two countries’ security agencies, deter illegal activity, and reinforce coordinated response capabilities in remote and rugged areas like the Big Bend region.

The Big Bend Sector encompasses more than 500 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border, much of it through difficult terrain with limited infrastructure. Cooperation between U.S. and Mexican authorities has become a key strategy in patrolling the region, especially as both sides seek to respond to evolving migration patterns and transnational criminal activity.
