Center for Big Bend Studies to Host 31st Annual Conference November 7–8 at Sul Ross State University

The Center for Big Bend Studies will host its 31st Annual Conference on November 7–8, 2025, at the Morgan University Center on the Sul Ross State University campus. The two-day event brings together historians, archaeologists, folklorists, and researchers focused on the Big Bend region and northern Mexico.

The conference will include a variety of presentations exploring prehistoric, historic, and modern cultures of the U.S.-Mexico borderlands. A complimentary social hour and silent auction will take place Friday evening following the day’s presentations. Saturday’s events will include continued conference sessions and the Annual Banquet and Keynote Speaker presentation, which requires separate registration.

Presentation proposals are due by October 17, and should relate to the greater Big Bend region or adjacent areas of West Texas and northern Mexico. Presenters are encouraged to submit their work as a formal paper to the Journal of Big Bend Studies following the event.

CBBS members will receive a registration form by mail, offering early and member discounts. Non-members may register starting September 1 at the CBBS online store. For full details, downloadable forms, and presenter guidelines, visit the Center for Big Bend Studies website or contact the office at (432) 837-8179.
