The Jeff Davis County Mountain Dispatch has yet to publish its June 12 e-edition online, despite assurances from the publisher that the issue would be corrected.
A representative of the Big Bend Times contacted the Mountain Dispatch publisher on Saturday, June 15, after noticing that the weekly e-edition — typically available to subscribers by Thursday — had not appeared. The publisher responded that the print edition was delivered to newsstands on time June 12 and stated they would address the missing online version.
As of Sunday evening, however, the e-edition had not been uploaded, and no public notice or update had been posted.
What remains unclear is whether any other subscribers have contacted the newspaper about the missing issue. If not, it raises questions about the reach and regular use of the Dispatch’s digital offering. The paper does not publish subscriber figures, and no explanation has been provided on its website or social channels regarding the lapse.
In 2025, readers increasingly rely on timely digital access — especially paying subscribers — and the lack of follow-up may reflect broader challenges in local newspaper engagement and digital infrastructure.
