Fort Davis ISD Pays $67K to End Superintendent’s Contract, Fires His Wife

The Fort Davis ISD board has agreed to pay former Superintendent Graydon Hicks $67,000 to buy out his 2025–26 contract, which was set to begin July 1, according to interim superintendent Ralph Traynham.

Hicks had been on paid leave since March under his existing $126,500-a-year contract, which ends June 30. The board had extended his contract in January before the conflict began, prompting the buyout.

His wife, Tammy Hicks, was terminated from her administrative role with the district last week. Hicks confirmed both the buyout and termination but declined further comment.

Traynham, appointed interim superintendent in April, said he will assist the board in searching for a permanent replacement.
