Students Get Hands-On Science Lesson with Owl Pellet Dissections

Fourth and fifth graders at Fort Davis Elementary got an up-close look at nature’s food chain this week during a hands-on science lesson involving owl pellet dissections.

The activity was led with help from Charles Ewing of Davis Mountains State Park, who joined the class to guide students through the process. Owl pellets, the regurgitated remains of undigested food, offer a window into the diets and habitats of birds of prey.

The Fort Davis ISD shared photos from the lesson on social media, thanking Ewing for bringing the experience to life for students.
