The Sonic Drive-In at 1701 W. Dickinson is undergoing a significant overhaul, according to state permits filed for the site.
The $1.2 million construction project, which began May 1, is listed as new construction but will take place at the location of the existing Sonic. Plans call for a 1,267-square-foot drive-thru food service facility with no public interior access, signaling a shift toward a fully drive-in/drive-thru model.
The privately funded project is expected to be completed by June 15, 2025, and reflects broader trends in fast food design, where efficiency and convenience continue to drive investment.
