New Gazebo Planned for Brewster County Courthouse Grounds

A new addition is coming soon to the Brewster County Courthouse property. Construction is set to begin this summer on an outdoor gazebo on the courthouse grounds, located at 201 W Avenue E in Alpine.

The project, funded by public dollars, will add a 458-square-foot open-air structure designed to enhance the public space around the historic courthouse. Construction is scheduled to begin June 1, 2025, with completion expected by September 1, 2025. The total estimated cost for the project is $100,000.

Officials said the gazebo will provide a shaded gathering spot for public events, ceremonies, and everyday use. As the project involves public land and funds, it falls under the regulations for federally funded roadway projects.

The Brewster County Courthouse, a centerpiece of downtown Alpine, is known for its historic charm. County leaders say the new gazebo will complement the courthouse’s character while providing a functional new space for the community.
