Alpine ISD’s second grade students took their math skills outside this week, transforming into playground surveyors as part of a hands-on lesson in measurement, perimeter, and area.
The interactive activity gave students the opportunity to apply math concepts in a real-world setting while enjoying time outdoors. As they measured and converted units around the playground, students combined learning with fun—demonstrating that math doesn’t always have to stay inside the classroom.
The project is part of Alpine ISD’s ongoing efforts to make learning engaging and experiential for students at every grade level.
