The U.S. Border Patrol’s Big Bend Sector marked a significant moment this week as more than 80 members of the Texas National Guard were officially sworn in to support operations along the U.S.–Mexico border.
The swearing-in ceremony signifies a continued partnership between the Border Patrol and the National Guard as part of ongoing efforts to enhance border security in the region.
“Honored to have them join the mission and strengthen the line,” the agency stated in a social media post. “Welcome to the team!”
The Big Bend Sector covers more than 135,000 square miles and includes 510 miles of international border, making it one of the most remote and challenging areas for border enforcement.
