Big Bend Ranch Rodeo Returns to Alpine August 8–9 with Youth and Adult Competitions

The Big Bend Ranch Rodeo, a longtime staple of West Texas ranching tradition, returns to Alpine on August 8–9, 2025, with two days of Working Ranch Cowboys Association (WRCA) sanctioned competitions showcasing authentic ranch skills and community spirit.

Now in its 25th year, the rodeo is set to take place at the Alpine rodeo grounds, with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. Friday, August 8, ahead of the adult team performance at 7:00 p.m.

The schedule resumes Saturday, August 9, at 9:30 a.m. with ticket sales and gates reopening for the youth team performance at 11:00 a.m., followed by youth awards. The event concludes that evening with another adult performance beginning at 7:00 p.m. and awards to follow.

Proceeds benefit Sul Ross State University’s rodeo program through scholarships and designated gifts. Since its inception, the Big Bend Ranch Rodeo has raised over $325,000 for SRSU and contributed to WRCA’s Crisis and Scholarship Funds, supporting working ranch families in times of need.
